I am a PhD Candidate in the Department of Political Science at The Ohio State University and a research affiliate at the Mershon Center for International Security Studies. My research interests broadly lie in international security, U.S. foreign policy, IR theory, knowledge and power, and interdisciplinary thinking on race and empire.

My dissertation, War as a Laboratory: Race and the Scientization of U.S. War-Making, examines how race has shaped, and been shaped by, the scientization of U.S. war-making since the end of World War II. Drawing on multi-sited archival research, I show how the transformation of war into a science—one that aspired to make war more precise, objective, and even humane—did not purge biases and hierarchies, including race. I argue that the scientization of war both expanded the permissibility of racialized violence and produced a certain ignorance about its operative racial logic. 

Before graduate school, I worked as a Project Assistant at the Atlantic Council in Washington, D.C., where I managed and provided research assistance for the Afghanistan portfolio at the Council’s South Asia Center. I hold a B.A. in International Relations and Psychology from Beloit College.
